October 1st - It's coming!

Hi everyone,

The bad news is, this site is out of date. The good news is that it's because we've all been working very hard on making this year amazing!

Here's the info you are probably looking for.

The Okotoks Scrapbook Convention will be held Saturday October 1st, 2011 a the Foothills Centennial Centre.

Registration date - Sunday September 11th, 2011. Please come back to this site for more registration information as it becomes available.

We are very excited to announce that The Scrapyard will be the store facilitating the event, so should you run out of adhesive, there will be plenty available! If you've ever been in Lori's store, you know she and her staff are passionate about scrapbooking and will help make this day an event to remember.

We are still finalizing the vendors who will be in attendance, there will be great make & takes and classes from all of our vendors! As soon as this information is available, it will be posted on this site (probably the week before registration).

Postponement

Hi everyone,

It is with regret that I announce the postponement of this year's event. Due to unforeseen medical circumstances, Shannon is not able to continue her role as co-chair of the Okotoks Scrapbook Convention. I would love to chair this event on my own, but at this moment I know that if I am flying solo I will not be able to give it the attention it deserves within the timeframe of which it all needs to be done - I want to make sure you have the most fantastic time!

Shannon and I have decided postponing until the fall is the best option and I will continue to chair the event in her absence. I am working with Sherrie Botten of the Rowan House as well as the venue to secure a date, which will be announced as soon as it is available.

I know some folks may have all ready booked time off work or made plans to travel to spend the day with us. Please know that this decision was not made lightly and we appreciate your support from the bottom of our hearts. We are very hopeful that by fall, Shannon will be able to slip on her chair shoes once again and be a part of this wonderful day - just think, you will be able to scrapbook all of your summer pictures and take a break once the back-to-school grind begins.

If your heart needs a scrap on April 2, please consider joining Allison Orthner's Crop For Mexico, where money raised will go to another wonderful cause.

See you in the fall & please check back for updates as I will post them as soon as I can. I wish Shannon a swift recovery and cannot wait until she is well enough to supplement the left part of my brain!

Registration & Other Exciting Things!

Shannon and I just met with our team of volunteers and have some exciting things to share.

I know you're wondering when registration is going to happen - it will be Saturday February 12, 2011 at 12:00pm (noon) on this website. The cost to attend the Okotoks Scrapbook Convention is $75.00, which will include lunch and dinner. Make and takes by the vendors will also be available at no additional cost. A full itinerary will be posted at the beginning of February as well so you can see exactly what the $75 will cover.

You will be able to register for classes at the time of registration and those classes (with descriptions) will be up the first few days of February so you can think about what you would like to take before you have to register. So make sure to visit again in early February!

We are very excited to announce the Scrapyard will be our official store! Lori Wilson-Bunda is excitedly planning all kinds of great things that is sure to get you excited. There will be great make & takes and a fabulous class! We're going to have such a blast with her, I know you'll love her!

Here's a pic from last year. Right before we opened the doors to the hall. This year is going to be so much fun! We can't wait!
